Nine years ago marked the start of World Day of Social Justice, which is observed annually on 20th February. Initiated by the United Nations it seeks to highlight that social development and social justice are key to achieve and maintain “peace and security within and among nations“. This day strives to promote efforts to tackle social issues which can harm this goal such as poverty, exclusion, and unemployment, and to promote human rights.
Each year focuses on a different theme and this year’s is Workers on the Move: the Quest for Social Justice. This will be looking at promoting fairness, and fair treatment of migrants seeking employment.
